Kerala is a narrow strip of land that lies between the Arabian Sea on the West and Western Ghats on the east. It is surrounded by timeless beauties of long and serene beaches of Kovalam and Varkala, eye catching backwaters of Kuttanad and Kumarakom, lush hills of Munnar and Vagamon and charming woods and forests of Silent Valley and Thekkady. This small piece of land at the tip of India is being flourished with God’s gift.
Kerala is one of the fascinating tourist spots situated in Southern India. Kerala is commonly known as ‘Gods own Country’ as it is rich in fauna and flora. The major attractions of this state are exotic wildlife parks, cool hill stations, bird sanctuaries, long stretches of back water, serene beaches and boat houses. It is one of the paradises to travelers with unique Indian traditional Ayurveda that rejuvenates the body. The season in the Kerala never ends with moderate climate and colorful festivals all around the year. The boat houses or boat resort at Kumarkom are world renowned and attract more tourists. It brings an incredible experience to stay at these boat resorts in the back waters of Vembanad Lake. These serene lakes become alive with boat races during Onam, a traditional and colorful festival celebrated throughout the state. The important tourist spots which grasps more tourists are Munnar, Thekkadi,Varkala , Kovalam etc.
Onam is the biggest harvest festival Celebrated in Kerala, this festival denotes the welcoming of King Mahabali. The King is traditionally welcomed with flowers and this is called as Onakolam. Breathtaking Snake Boat Race and exotic Kaikottikali dance are one the significant events of Onam. This festival of Onam lasts for ten days. Starting with atham on the first day it ends with Thiru Onam on the last day. OnaSadya is served on the day of thiru Onam and it includes traditional array of Onam recipes. The festival of Onam ends with breath taking Boat races held on the back waters of Vemabanad lake.
